She taught face-to-face classes at CU for four years before transitioning to teaching online in 2011 after winning a Digital Pedagogy Grant. She has presented her work at numerous international conferences, and she co-presented a well-received presentation at COLTT in 2012 entitled “Inspiring Students to Succeed in Online Classrooms.” Erin has an article forthcoming in _Critique: Studies in Contemporary Fiction_ in 2013, and she has received multiple awards for her pedagogy, including the Graduate Student Teacher Excellence Award in 2011.

Description: Research and teaching are often thought of as dichotomous, but how can we yoke the two, creating digital projects that are engaging for our students and effective for our own scholarly research? This presentation will cover some of the most successful ways to incorporate digital projects in your humanities classroom, and some tips on showcasing digital scholarship in your CV or resume. The session will also cover other aspects of digital work, including common pitfalls, assessment techniques, collaboration issues, recent discussions of digital humanities in the academic field, and the successful presentation of digital work for tenure or the job market. Participants will spend time brainstorming how they can increase the digital content of both their classroom and their research, and will leave the session equipped with concrete examples of successful digital scholarship. Laptops are welcome, but not required.
